ALGUNOS DESAFÍOS DE LOS “PROGRAMAS BASADOS EN LA FE” PARA LA REINSERCIÓN SOCIAL EN CHILE

Abstract

In Chile, as in other countries, the Christian religion and prisons have historically walked hand in hand for many years. Today, the presence of the Catholic and evangelical churches is a reality in almost the entire country. Although there are enthusiastic voices that argue that religiosity would provide a series of positive elements for social reinsertion, there are other more critical voices that are skeptical of its nature and effects, calling into question any positive effect it might have on reintegration. Based on a review of literature, this article analyzes the possibilities and limitations of (Christian) religiosity in the social reintegration of people serving sentences in Chilean prisons, pointing out various aspects that would require a greater conceptual and / or empirical development with the purpose of elucidating better the relationship between religiosity and reintegration.
