Traditional and new crafts of the Yokostrov Sami during the transition to settlement in the 19th and early 20th centuries

Abstract

The paper reveals the features of traditional and new crafts of the Yokostrov Sami in the 19th and early 20th centuries during transition to settlement. This process coincided with migration of the Yokostrov pogost from the Yokostrov Strait to the bay Belaya Guba of the Lake Imandra. The study is based on materials of Russian and foreign ethnographic and travel essays as well as on archive sources, statistics and toponyms.
