The Foreign Policy of US President James E. Carter on the Peoples Republic of China, 1980-1981

Abstract

The article researches the US foreign policy towards the PRC during the presidency of James E. Carter in 1980–1981. The practical implementation of pre-election initiatives by the administration of the President James E. Carter in the Chinese direction in 1980–1981 was studied. There were analysed reasons, course and consequences of intensification of Washington's foreign policy strategy towards Beijing during the investigated period. The role of various groups in the American establishment in the process of forming the foreign policy course of the new administration towards China in 1980–1981 is outlined. It is described the specific US foreign policy actions towards communist China of James E. Carter presidential period.
