Up/Down Mixers for Satellite Communications Utilizing Rat-Race Circuits

Abstract

A new design for up and down mixers, utilizing rat-race circuits for microwave-band transmitters and receivers, has been introduced. These MIC mixers provide the advantages of small size, low cost and ease of producibility. Additionally, structural and design considerations, and experimental results have also revealed excellent performance characteristics suited to satellite communication applications.
