Abstract
We designed and characterized a photodiode with a multimode-interference waveguiding structure. The photodiode with two light input ports showed high sensitivity, small junction capacitance, and low optical coupling between the two light input ports, which enables high-speed and polarization-diverse optical receivers with low optical returns.
