Abstract

Tiganasi polders, a significant retention area in the lower stretch of Jijia River with a storage capacity of about 80 million cubic meters, were designed for flood control. Different scenarios of fusible dikes behavior and breach development for the actual situation were examined. In order to improve the efficiency of the flood attenuation, it was supposed that the weir of each polder is equipped with flap gates. A brute force approach was used to derive the best operation rules of the polders ensemble.
