GIS Mapinfo. The black side of the popularity

Abstract

It is shown that the most important cartographic function of projection transformation is not used by the majority of GIS Mapinfo users, so the software has actually turned into a graphic editor due to a gap in users’ knowledge. As the first step in solving the problem, the common concepts and provisions of mathematical cartography and instructions for working with projections are presented in a simple way.
