Towards a framework for technology platform design, development and implementation in South African health: Preliminary validation

Abstract

Advances in digital health provide promising solutions to South Africa's health system and health care concerns. As a developing country with a primary health care system, implementation of such technologies often fail. Using this as motivation, an inventory framework has been developed to aid technology platform owners in the management of their platforms. As the first step of the framework validation, an existing NDoH initiative, the MomConnect healthcare platform, was investigated to corroborate the framework. This initial validation provided valuable insight into the practical use of the framework including redefining existing concepts and emphasizing the addition of new concepts to the framework.
