Abstract

This paper investigated the power density or received signal strength indicator in Jasin, Melaka area from digital TV as the ambient source of 546 MHz frequency transmitter, installed in mount Ledang, for the purpose of energy scavenging of radio frequency convert to dc power. The survey conducted using FieldFox Microwave Analyzer N9952A, GPS tracker, OmniLog antenna, and software of google map, google earth, notepad, microsoft excel to extract, plot, map and analyze the data collected. The results showed that due to digital TV broadcasting, 20% of Jasin area covered with power density higher than — 65 dB, and the rest 80% of Jasin area are within the range from — 65 dB to — 80 dB of power density.
