Abstract

A novel radar cross-section reducer surface based on combination of four different electromagnetic band-gap structures is proposed. These periodic structures exhibit a destructive interference resulting in redirection of scattering fields from a target. The dimensions of four square unit cells are optimized in order to achieve a thin broadband planar surface for at least 10dB RCS reduction in comparison to a PEC plate. Consequently, the reduction is realized up to 75% over the C band.
