Abstract

This paper presents a general method to damp subsynchronous resonance (SSR) of type-III and type-IV wind turbines with different types of transmission systems. The method is based on reshaping the output impedance of wind turbines through a supplementary damping function added to existing turbine electrical control system. The types of transmission systems considered include long overhead transmission lines, overhead lines with series compensation, as well as high-voltage dc transmission.
