The Cognitive Motivation of the Semantic Construction of the Internet Buzzword “Lying Flat”

Abstract

In cognitive linguistics, the understanding and use of language are closely related to human cognition, and the meaning and structure of language expressions can be explained from a cognitive perspective. The article firstly analyses the semantic scope of the Internet buzzword “lying flat” based on relevant literature and then explains the cognitive basis of the basic meaning of “lying flat” and the cognitive mechanism of the extended meaning of “lying flat” based on the event-domain cognitive model. The analysis of the cognitive motives of the semantic meaning of “lying flat” provides evidence for the explanatory power of cognition on language and is also of value for people to understand and use this new word correctly.
