Abstract
This paper presents a state-of-the-art of wireless transceivers providing Gbps data-rate. This study focuses on the power consumption of such systems and puts it into balance with respect to the data-rate through the energy efficiency and with respect to the communication distance through a new Figure-of-Merit.
