Abstract

The design of an induced pole permanent magnet generator by retrofitting an induction motor is shown. The geometry was parameterized in order to explore the complete design panorama with the finite element method. The highest back EMF case was chosen and manufactured. The experimental results are analyzed and compared with the simulations. A good agreement between the simulation and experiment shows the usefulness of the method and the opportunities for improvement of this design.
