Abstract
The author reviews energy efficient lighting technologies, with emphasis on: the advantages and disadvantages of new lighting products; how to cope with the disadvantages; their performance and design; and how to apply these new products in an effective retrofit or in new construction applications. Current recommended lighting practices for indoor and outdoor applications are surveyed, and guidelines are established for improved techniques and economics with recommended illuminance values as applied to new projects or in the modernization of existing pulp and paper facilities.<>
