Abstract

Bispectral analysis was performed on the time series data of blood sugar obtained during 75 gram oral glucose tolerance test in 124 subjects. The subjects were divided into five groups according to their fasting blood sugar levels. Bispectrum. the Fourier transform of the third order cumulant sequence of blood sugar fluctuations, was fairly uniform and not significantly different among the five groups of subjects. Thus we concluded that the changes, which we demonstrated in the last meeting, in the mode of insulin-versus-sugar feedback was not due to the change in the nonlinearity characterstics increasing with the degree of diabetes.
