Acceptance test procedures for a national wider radar coastal surveillance system: The ZSRN experience

Abstract

From the most complex military systems to coffee machines acceptance tests are always a crucial moment for the users (at various levels) and a milestone for the project managers. How to do it right? It is often the most essential part of the project management and securely the most effective in reducing (or increasing) both time and costs as well as customer satisfaction. It sum-up the endless discussion on waterfall vs. agile approach to project management. This paper aims to report some experiences acquired on field during the commissioning of the national wider Radar Coastal Surveillance System for the Republic of Poland, named “Zautomatyzowany System Radarowego Nadzoru (ZSRN) polskich obszarów morskich / Automatic National System of Radar Control for Maritime Areas of Poland” realized by Selex — Sistemi Integrati (now Leonardo S.p.A.) in consortium with Polish partners.
