Abstract
Efficient and reliable operation of smart grids is based on the identification and determination of critical parameters and interdependencies between interconnected power and communication network infrastructures. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of elements of the smart grid infrastructure, focusing on the determination of critical parameters and interdependencies for further modeling and analysis. A representative model of the interconnected infrastructure is presented, taking into account the physical characteristics of the power system, including the electrical behavior of the grid and the communication network (including the control and monitoring systems). A method for determining of critical parameters and their interdependencies is presented, and a table of parameters for further deeper network analysis is established. The study concludes with a discussion of the limitations of the model and possible future directions for research in this area.
