Abstract

The objective of this paper is to utilize a-mvelet-based higher-order spectral analysis approach to detect and quantify short-term nonlinear phenomena. The original concept appeared in [6]. The concept will be demonstrated by utilizing it to detect short-term nonlinear wave phenomena in laboratory generated random sea wave data. Such phenomena is responsible for the generation of large amplitude waves. A second-order time domain Volterra model is also utilized to demonstrate phase locking of the first-and second-order components .
