Abstract

The design of radar altimeter is a novel method based on pulse compression. Pulse compression is most commonly implemented for wave shaping and for the improvement of range resolution where modulation is done internally. In this algorithm operational altitude is increased by means of pulse compression. The design of the radar altimeter is based on the intra pulse LFM and inter pulse PPM. Based on the mismatched code correlation integration algorithm is performed. The flight test verification results are analyzed in different terrain and have been compared. There is a considerable improvement in the processing gain and a superior performance in the weak echo signal detection.
