Abstract
The underlying mathematical problem of both, SNR estimation and blind equalization, is the sum of random processes. It can be shown that it is sufficient to describe the random processes as well as their sum by a shape factor of the p.d.f., the kurtosis, which includes the second and fourth order moment.
