IDEAS AND PROJECTS OF SOVIET AND RUSSIAN ARCHITECTS IN THE ARCTIC REGION

Abstract

: The article is devoted to the consideration of two key stages in the development and development of the Arctic territories in the context of architecture and urban planning – the Soviet and modern ones. The author of the article notes the key achievements of Soviet party functionaries, researchers and architects in the development of the northern territories. It is noted that energy production has become an impetus for the development of the Arctic. In addition, the article concludes about the continuity of the modern architecture of the Arctic and the preservation of paternalism in the development of this region. It is concluded that to this day the consequences of the short-sighted Soviet policy in the field of resettlement of citizens in the North, as well as in the field of designing single-industry towns, remain. Among other things, the author lists the ambitious and futuristic projects of Soviet and Russian architects, a small part of which was implemented in real practice.
