Abstract

This chapter discusses Roy Russell’s unexpected death when Jane was sixteen, and the family’s struggles after that. Robert "Bob" Waterfield, Jane’s first husband is introduced, and their early courtship and relationship is explored. Also discussed is Jane turning her back on her Christian faith, which her mother had brought her up on, and her first taste of publicity.
