Smartification of urbanized cities, approach and proposal

Abstract

When smartification deals with existing urban areas, the approach could not be the one used for green field. The user should be the main player, with its daily pain points and with the perception of urban areas that he feels as citizen. The present paper offers an approach and an application of it to a real city. The project is a proposal, that the authors built on the city of Turin, taking into consideration 5 areas and proposing a mobility mode for each of them. The holistic approach grants connection and complementary among the 5 area projects. The purpose is not the creation of a smart city as a tag, as a technological achievement for its own sake; it is completely focused on daily life of users and on how to make it more seamless, more enjoyable, with higher quality.
