Abstract

What the hell is prison abolition, anyway? I’m asking for a dear teacher-friend. Angela Davis (2003), in her well-known essay on this theme, says … well, Sister Davis says many things, but none of these, though my friend has read them, does she clearly remember or entirely understand. Apparently, I have done a lousy job of explaining abolition—or more to the point, selling it—and I need to get my story straight.
