Miniature High Performance Interface for in Model Electronic Pressure Scanning

Abstract

In 1977 Pressure Systems, Inc (PSI) pioneered the field of pressure scanning by introducing the first commercially available Electronically Scanned Pressure (ESP) device. The electronic pressure scanner, contrary to the mechanical pressure scanner, utilizes one single crystal, piezoresistive, solid state pressure transducer per measurement port, In contrast to the also common discrete pressure transducers, the electronic pressure scanner houses all the channels, 8 through 64 transducers, walog multiplexers, and an instrument amplifier; all incorporated into a very compact unit called an ESP.
