Abstract
In single crystals of an easy-glide orientation of the heterogeneous alloys Cu-15% Al-2% Co (at %) with non-coherent particles of CoAl the plastic deformation is shown to be realised by means of mechanical twinning and the dependence is investigated. At 77 K abnormally large reversible deformation (e ≈ 2.5%) (superelasticity) associated with elastic twinning is found on unloading. The dependence of superelasticity effects on the particle dispersion, the test temperature, and crystal axis orientation is studied.
