Abstract
To simulate the possible gain of frequency hopping (FH) in a mobile radio system, the simulation model has to consider the characteristics of frequency diversity (FD) and interference diversity (ID) simultaneously. For our approach, we built up a physical layer link simulation in which the frequency dependence of the transmission channel is modelled taking the frequency correlation of the radio channel into account. This link is fed with interference information burst by burst which is derived from an attached system simulation to cope the real interference situation in a cellular network with FH. The paper gives an introduction to our simulating approach for a GSM system and presents computed simulation results. By introducing FH in a GSM network a significant capacity increase can be achieved.
