Enhanced HAWK high power illuminator for field data collections

Abstract

This paper presents an overview of a previously developed Homing All-the-Way Killer (HAWK) high-power illuminator (HPI) radar enhancement kit. This enhancement kit enables the HAWK HPI radar to be used as a sensitive remote sensing device in a wide variety of applications. This HPI enhancement kit was first tested in March 1998 during a Hera missile launch at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR); examples of the data collected during that test are discussed.
