Abstract

Compared to SAR system with T-R separate antenna, the SAR system with T-R community antenna uses only one phased array antenna to realize both transmitting and receiving, which reduces the number of phased array antenna as well as the size and weight of the whole system. However, it is quite complex to realize internal calibration for SAR with T-R community antenna system, as the process of internal calibration requires other modules, units or subsystems to work cooperatively. In this paper, the method and theory of internal calibration are proposed for a SAR system with T-R community antenna. The comprising of the internal calibration unit, calibration modes and the realization of calibrating links are described, proving that the presented internal calibration approach for SAR with T-R community antenna is feasible theoretically.
