The Reform of Management and the Dialectics of Interests

Abstract

It is the task of science to understand the essence, the core of phenomena, and thereby to create the prerequisites for radical practical actions. It is gratifying to see how, in the course of restructuring, the interaction of these is being worked out and how concepts that just yesterday were considered to be abstractions are becoming practical concerns. One such concept is that of interests. When discussing the problems of fundamentally restructuring the management of the economy, top-priority attention is being devoted to interests. "In the final analysis," M. S. Gorbachev has noted, "the meaning of restructuring lies in the consideration of interests, in exercising an influence on interests, in management of them and through them."
