Abstract

In Japan, the new EDTV broadcasting service (called 'Clear-Vision') will start this fall. Current television receivers have various drawbacks: interface called 'cross luminance' and 'cross color' due to imperfect Y/C separation, 'line crawling' interference, 'line flicker' due to 2:1 interlaced scanning method, and deterioration of vertical resolution. In order to reduce interference, digital TV receivers such as EDTV receivers perform motion adaptive Y/C separation and motion adaptive scanning interpolation.
