Thus, the present work has the objective of mapping the Subaé river flood occurred on April 14, 2010 as a strategy to define its spot and delineate areas with greater risk of losses to the population. Through the hydrodynamic mathematical modeling associated to a Geographic Information System (GIS) program, it was possible to delimit the floodplain. With this delimitation and according to database from the Statistical Grid of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) of the 2010 demographic census, the result of the mapping allowed to quantify the floodplain in 85.2 hectares, containing 12.382 inhabitants and 2.747 households in a risk situation. In the fieldwork, it was identified that the higher risk areas to flooding are populous neighborhoods like Ideal, Bonfim, Caeira, Trapiche and the center of the City the Municipal Market.
