Managing visitors at sacred sites: the case of Montserrat.

Abstract

Abstract This chapter analyses how sacred sites manage tourism, specifically analysing Montserrat Monastery, a religious site in Spain where differing managerial institutions and visitor types merge. This case study analyses (i) the institutions and entities that coexist in Montserrat and how they coordinate with each other, and (ii) how value-added activities in Montserrat are managed.
