Abstract
In spite of significant successes in the field of lung surgery such complications of the post-operative period as failure of the bronchus stump and bronchial fistulas are still serious problems. According to the information of foreign and native authors the frequency of complications amounts to from 2 up to 30%. Resulting from this mortality amounts to 70%. In terms of treatment success the recovery of such patients' health therefore accounts for no more than 30%. This makes the life quality and social adaptation of patients worse. In the opinion of most authors the main cause of the presented complications is the character and quality of the bronchial suture. A large quantity of suggested types and modifications of bronchus stump sutures is evidence of this. The shortcoming of hand and mechanical sutures traditionally used at present is their effect on the bronchial lumen. The bronchial lumen condition ruins the protective barrier of the mucous membrane. In this connection the development of new methods of bronchus stump capsulation without the above mentioned shortcoming is supposed to be the most effective development to improve lung surgery.
