AUTOMATED IMAGE INTERPRETATION IN THE ASSESSMENT OF REGIONAL MINERAL RESOURCE ENDOWMENTS: THE KARELIA-KOLA REGION

Abstract

Prospects for use of computer technologies in interpretation of a multiscalar series of space images are examined for the purpose of conducting an inventory of natural resources. More specifically, space photographs are used to investigate the territory of the Karelia-Kola region for the purpose of identifying deposits of “anomalous” mineral resources, and uranium ores in particular.
