For current information, visit royalnavy.mod.uk/careers As a skilled navigator, you’ll take your submarine through the deep oceans, close to shore, or through busy shipping lanes, staying hidden but always alert. On board a submarine, you and your team could be given the task of launching torpedoes and cruise missiles against sea and land targets. Initially, you could be put in charge of one of three sections (sonar, tactical systems or communications) with responsibility for keeping all systems operational and passing critical information to your Captain. You’ll also be managing a team of highly-skilled Warfare ratings, who’ll look to you for the expertise, management and leadership skills you’ll need to develop on your way to your first command.
