Abstract

Waiting time jitter has always been considered unavoidable in PDH stuff synchronization systems, and although several countermeasures have been suggested, they do not suppress it sufficiently. This paper proposes a better method for suppressing waiting time jitter by regenerating the stuff pulse at the receiver PLL and then by comparing the phase of the received stuff pulse with this regenerated stuff pulse. Moreover, this method is also effective in suppressing jitter in ATM which is the core technology of B-ISDN.
