Abstract
Lifetime is a relevant issue of a successful Wireless Sensor Network deployment, due to the fact that nodes in WSN have limited resources such as energy, computation capacity, memory size, and antenna coverage. But energy is the most important among them, because all these resources depend on energy. To reduce energy consumption some approaches propose solutions based on link layer and/or network layer, while others try to work in collaborative fashion using clustering techniques and gathering data before the transmission. In this paper we present a new approach for scheduling the mobility of the Base Station, based on a new metric that evaluate the residual energy in the network as whole, and hence assuring a distributed energy consumption and improving the lifetime by avoiding energy shortage in nodes near to the Base Station.
