SSPE Prosumer Development in China’s Electricity Grids and Markets

Abstract

With the development of global energy transition, prosumers with both electricity generation and consumption become increasingly popular, making the electricity market reform and grid operation more and more complex. Design of future electricity market should fully consider the electrical and economic features of various electricity prosumers. This paper focuses on the traditional prosumer--Self-Supply Power Station Enterprise (SSPE) in the background of present China's electricity market. In China, most regional SSPEs were set up for industrial productions with coal-fired power plants. The future development of SSPE with energy transition is discussed. For SSPE’s participation in electricity market, an economical model of SSPE and progressive market are proposed.
