Abstract

This paper explores the role of regret in psychotherapeutic treatment, which is noted as one of the most neglected areas in the theoretical literature. Then he focuses on the search for forgiveness, mercy and possible reparation. What role does the patient's need to forgive others and to be forgiven play in clinical treatment? And what about the analyst's need to forgive others and be forgiven? What are the roles of mercy and reparation in treatment, and in general in our lives? These themes are illustrated with experiences of the author.
