Abstract

The current software quality assurance methodology employed at Motorola Microsystems is one which has only recently been adopted. The evolution of the methodology has been based, for the most part, on software development activities occurring within the organization. An interesting event occurred with the application of our software quality assurance methodology to the porting activity of a major software product which was developed outside of the Microsystems organization. This paper discusses the opportunities which we were presented to test the robustness of our newly created methodology when applied against the validation and verification of the port of the Unix1 System V operating system to the M68000 family of microprocessors.
