Abstract

This paper proposes a novel Electric-Hydraulic Hybrid (EH2) drivetrain for Electric vehicles (EVs) and Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). In the proposed energy storage system, a hydraulic accumulator is employed to utilize its high power density. It can accept high frequencies of charging and discharging, making it more promising for industrial and automotive use in regenerative braking. Therefore, this technology is highly suitable for passenger cars, sport-racing vehicles, express cars and trucks in cities.
