Abstract

Admission control is an important method for congestion control in ATM networks. The authors propose an efficient hybrid algorithm for the calculation of the required equivalent bandwidth of a virtual circuit call given a traffic descriptor consisting of its class, average bit rate, peak bit rate and mean burst length.
