Tibetan Lhasa Phonetic to International Phonetic Alphabet Conversion System Based on Small Character Set

Abstract

In the windows environment, this paper takes the Tibetan monosyllables of international standard code(ISO/IEC 10646) as the research object, according to the Tibetan coding rules, the matlab program is written to divided the Tibetan monosyllabic into seven parts and separate the initials and finals. Furthermore, according to the inherent correspondence between Tibetan and Lhasa dialect, this paper establishes the conversion model of initial, final and tone between Tibetan and Lhasa dialect, and finally realizes the automatic conversion of small character set Tibetan to Lhasa international phonetic alphabet. The realization of the phonetic conversion provides a scientific and convenient tool for the study and language teaching of Tibetan Lhasa, provides a reference for the phonetic conversion of other Tibetan dialects, and also provides a phonetic marking foundation for Tibetan speech recognition and speech synthesis.
