PROSPECTS OF WATER TRANSPORT FUNCTIONING IN UKRAINE

Abstract

The purpose. The work is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of the functioning of water transport enterprises in the conditions of uncertainty of the economic environment and the study of prospects for the development of water transport enterprises. Methods. To solve scientific problems used: comparative analysis of empirical data; abstract-logical generalization. The results. The peculiarities of the functioning of river and sea transport in Ukraine in the conditions of uncertainty of the economic environment are studied in the work. Based on the comparative analysis of water freight volumes, the prospects for the development of water transport in Ukraine and increasing the efficiency of its operation are determined. It is established that the advantages of wide use of water transport are the lowest cost of freight transportation per conditional ton of cargo, relatively low investment required to restore the industry, and significant potential and well-developed infrastructure of water transport enterprises. Scientific novelty. In the process of analyzing the efficiency of water transport, relatively small amounts of investment required to restore the industry have been identified. The practical significance. Some results and conclusions can be used by government agencies in drafting government programs to regulate the activities of water transport enterprises.
