Abstract

This paper proposes a simplified soft demapper for DVB-T2 (Second Generation Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial) receiver based on conventional 1-D demapper. Simulation results show that the simplified 1-D demapper has 1 to 2 dB degradation for various channels. When compared with the 2-D soft demapper, the simplified 1-D approach offers a complexity reduction by more than ten-fold, and is a possible alternative if the receiver is to be implemented in software.
