Start and Development of the Diabetes National Database in Romania

Abstract

Diabetes is an illness known to require continuous observation and a personalized approach in order to avoid the long-term complications. Creating a Diabetes Electronic Health Record for the Romanian patients has been an aspiration for many years and this paper presents the creation of a national repository for the data from diabetes patients. There is explained the necessity of such action, the initial steps, as well as some features of the application.
