Abstract

Barker discusses contributing factors, symptoms, and treatment of tracheal consumption in five of his patients from Falmouth, Stroudwater, Gorham, and Westbrook. Treatments include calomel, alkalis, and opium for cough suppression. He adds a comment about ulceration of tonsils among children with reference to an 1809 article by Felix Pascalis.
