Abstract

Oxygen consumption was measured for four species of fairy shrimp (Eubranchipus serratus, Streptocephalus texanus, S. seali and Thamnocephalus platyurus) over the normal range of temperatures encountered by the animals in Missouri. Q10 values and oxygen consumption (ml O2/gm dry wt/hr) indicates that the two smaller species (E. serratus and S. texanus) were very sensitive to temperature change, whereas the two larger species (S. seali and T. platyurus) were nonresponsive to changes in temperature.
